2009 Season - Training Camp Update

Draft Day

That 4 letter word “work” gets in the way yet again this season and so the 2009 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft will take place at 7pm on Monday evening August 31st that’s Bank Holiday Monday. The first game of the season Titans @ Steelers is on Thursday September 10th. Trading Day 1 will be on Sunday 18th October before week 6’s games and Trading Day 2 will be on Sunday 22nd November before week 11. Put these in your diary. Franchise Players I hope you are all back for another season. If not let me know asap as the time for the selection of our 2009-10 Franchise players has arrived. You must supply the name of your new Franchise Man by July 5th. To help out a few bits of research are on the way. Firstly attached is the final table with each players teams (so you can remember who you had on your squad in the first place) and how much they will cost you for the next two years if you Franchise them. Remember if you cut your franchise player you still pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. This year big names becoming available include many a Pro Bowl of running backs:- Joseph Addai, Marion Barber, Reggie Bush, Frank Gore, Maurice Jones-Drew, Willie Parker and LaDainian Tomlinson plus top Quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with the rookies - the rookie report (attached) details the players from the first two rounds of the NFL Draft who may be available to us this season, together with who signed them. Yes Brett Favre is at it again, saying he may come back for one more year, but if so it will be only with Minnesota. Key player moves this off-season have seen QB Jay Cutler traded from Denver to Chicago for QB Kyle Orton and picks, RBs Dominic Rhodes, Fred Taylor and Derrick Ward and Receivers Laveranues Coles, Joey Galloway, Torry Holt, TJ Houshmandzadeh and Terrell Owens all moved teams. If you want to see which players have moved in Free Agency use the following link http://www.nfl.com/freeagency Team Nicknames If you wish to change your teams nickname you can do so, again this should be with me by July 5th. They started as The French Letters, became The French Frogs and as he based his team around rookies last year The French Virgins so will it be The French (Old) Farts for Mr Stamp’s franchise this year. So that’s it… 3 things to email me by the end of next month. 1) Are you in for another season, 2)Your 2009-10 Franchise player and 3) New team nickname if a change is required.
